The PADI Open Water Diver course, offered by GALAPAGOS SCUBA DIVING SCHOOL GALAPAGOSSCUBADIVING SAS, is designed for those who want to explore the vast underwater world, support ocean conservation and obtain the most globally recognized diving certification.
With a focus on safety, participants will learn to be skilled divers, control their buoyancy and respect marine life.
In the first phase, students complete the theoretical component through PADI eLearning®, https://www.padi.com/es/cursos/open-water-diver , allowing them to study at their own pace and convenience, with an estimated time commitment of 5-10 hours. Study online or offline, using a computer or mobile device. Connect with your instructor whenever you have a question. The fee will depend on the country of origin.
The second phase involves practice in a controlled environment, such as a swimming pool or similar, where participants become familiar with the diving equipment and gain confidence in their skills.
This phase requires approximately one day of training and is designed to ensure students are comfortable before moving forward.
Equipment and logistics
Includes: Transfer of diving equipment to the pool area, PADI instructor, tank, weights, vest and regulator.
Not included: fins, mask, snorkel and wetsuit ; if you do not have them, you must inform your instructor and there will be an additional cost.
Time required: 5 hours of practice in the pool.
The third phase takes place in open water, usually in the sea, where participants perform four dives under the supervision of an instructor.
Here, they apply what they have learned in a real-life environment as they explore the beautiful marine sites of Santa Cruz Island, such as Caamaño, Punta Estrada, El Bajo and El Barranco, Seymour, Mosquera, Daphne, Floreana and Bartolomé.
The choice of location will depend on sea conditions and the decision of the diving instructor.
