PADI PADI SKIN DIVER
Learn snorkeling and skin diving skills , including techniques such as controlling buoyancy, swimming on the surface and cleaning your snorkel, as well as making effortless dives.
Skin diving involves diving underwater to observe marine life up close, without any complicated equipment. It is a great way to explore the underwater world without the need for scuba diving.
The PADI Skin Diver course prepares you to enjoy these experiences, whether in a local freshwater lake or the big blue ocean, at home or on vacation at a dive destination, regardless of whether you are a beginner or have previous experience.
To enroll in a PADI Skin Diver course , you must be at least 8 years old. You need adequate swimming skills and comfort in the water. No previous experience is required.
Academic
Throughout the course, you will learn how to properly select and use diving equipment, basic safety measures and essential snorkeling and skin diving techniques .
- How to choose, adjust and use skin diving equipment.
- Basic safety guidelines for being in and around water.
- Snorkeling and skin diving techniques including checking buoyancy, swimming on the surface, clearing water from your snorkel and performing effortless surface dives.
- Do an optional skin dive at a local dive site.
Equipment and logistics
Basic equipment required includes mask, snorkel, fins and snorkel vest, with the option of wetsuit and weights as needed.
Training
Training will be conducted at designated marine sites on Santa Cruz Island such as Caamaño, Punta Estrada, El Bajo and El Barranco, Seymour, Mosquera, Daphne, Floreana and Bartolomé. Depending on sea conditions and the instructor’s decision.

For the PADI Divemaster, Rescue Diver, and Emergency First Response (EFR) courses, students must purchase the official PADI materials and eLearning separately.
Some courses require prior certifications and a minimum number of logged dives.
